-Decentralized refers to the void of roles within the organization that are filled by a specific identity. In DAO organizations all roles are interchanged by multiple identities. For example, instead of having 1 CEO make executive decisions, in DAOs there are councils (or boards) of various kinds that make decisions regarding specific projects.

-Autonomous refers to the self-fulfilling nature of DAOs. Since all DAO functions and responsibilities are decentralized throughout a network of people that can freely interchange roles, DAOs have indefinite potential lifespans.

-Organization refers to a social construct of human beings who have come together to act with unified purpose and intention to create literal impact and change.
